Here are some photos I took on a recent trip to Chicago. Unfortunately I wasn’t there very long and my camera died, otherwise I would have gotten more shots. I did however snap several around Navy Pier and the beach that is next to it. As you can see it wasn’t beach weather! This was the first time that I had been on an icy, snowy beach before, and I must say it was a pretty cool experience. There were actually quite a few people out (and dogs too!)

Chicago is truly blessed to be situated on Lake Michigan, and the people of this great city take advantage of it. One of the biggest failures of Kansas City is the way we have turned our backs on the river. All great cities have a connection to a body of water, and while the Missouri River is no Lake Michigan, it does have a lot of potential. Our city has made an effort in recent years to bring the focus back to the river, and this should be applauded. I fear however that it will take much more than is being done to have any profound effect.

On a more positive note: Chicago, you really have much to be proud of. One of my favorite cities, you make me feel at home every time I visit. You are big, beautiful, and dynamic. For all of you out there that have never been, go. And for all of you Chicagoans holding down the fort, please continue doing so, for you may have another person calling it home in the near future…

Until next time Chicago,
